PROTECTING INEEL'S POWER SYSTEMS

NBC-6;"Computer experts at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory are using homeland security grants to help protect critical power control systems from hackers. Power systems used to be separated from the outside. But as they link to the Internet, they're more vulnerable to attack. INEEL's new Control Systems Security & Test Center tests power systems codes for weaknesses, and makes recommendations for changes. Robert Hoffman is the manager of the INEEL's cyber security research department. He says the agency's own network gets as many as 7,000 attacks every day. That's how they became experienced in cyber security. Now they're using the expertise they built to help other critical utilities bolster their own network."
I know people who work at INEEL, from where I live it is like maybe a hours drive at the most! It a scary thought in my mind after post the article I found about all the things that are happening over the Inter-net and how easy it is for someone to do something if they just slip in with the right code or password. I have gotten to the point even with my E-mail box, if I am in question? I delete it or mark-spam it, to just be safe!
